Two men have been charged with murder after a van was allegedly driven into a 60-year-old on Friday.
Police say the driver fled after crash, which left one man dead and three others injured.
A 29-year-old and a 56-year-old have now been charged with one count of murder and three of attempted murder.
Officers are still investigating the incident, which happened in the Myton Way/Rings area of Ingleby Barwick, near Thornaby.
Both men are expected to appear at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Monday, where the 29-year-old will also face a charge of perverting the course of justice.
Abandoned van
Police said the victim was struck by a white Citroen Berlingo van shortly before 23:35 GMT on Friday, on the footpath near the junction of Myton Way and The Rings.
A van, thought to be the one involved in the crash, was found abandoned nearby.
Cleveland Police appealed for more information and dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage.
Senior investigating officer Temporary Det Ch Insp Mathew Hollingsworth thanked residents for their "patience and co-operation", saying numerous officers remained in the area conducting enquiries.
The victim has not yet been publicly identified.
