Arrests after nine injured in fight outside pub
Two men have been arrested after nine people were injured in a fight outside a pub.
Police were called to The Victoria in Whitley Bay on Wednesday at about 20:15 BST, following reports of a brawl.
Four people were treated at the scene and five were taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington, the North East Ambulance Service said.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, and a second man, 28, was held on suspicion of violent disorder.
Both have been bailed pending further inquiries, Northumbria Police said.
Officers said the injuries were "non-life threatening" and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
