A man has died and four others are seriously injured after a two-car crash near Tavistock in Devon, police have said.

The crash involving a Vauxhall Astra and a Kia Rio happened at Iron Railings Cross, between Haye Down and Longcross, at about 12:55 BST on Monday, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

Police said a 46-year-old local man died at the scene and four other people were taken to hospital with serious injuries, including a young child whose injuries were described as "life-threatening".

A man in his 30s from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by careless driving, the force said.

He has since been released on bail.

Police urged anyone with information about the crash to contact them.
