A power cut hit 184 properties close to the scene of a large fire.
The blaze struck a derelict building near West Moor Farm in the South Hetton area of County Durham early on Monday evening.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service was called at about 17:00 GMT and warned of a "build-up of traffic" in the area.
Northern Powergrid said it had isolated the electricity supply "in line with safety protocols" and power had been restored to the properties by 22:00 GMT.
A spokesman for the fire service said crews from Seaham, Peterlee and Spennymoor attended the scene, where they stayed until 21:20 GMT.
