M22 reopens following security alert

A section of the M22 in County Antrim has now fully re-opened after it was closed due to a security alert, the PSNI have said.

The northbound lane was closed between junction one in Dunsilly and junction two in Ballygrooby.

On Monday, Police received a report after 08:05 BST that a suspicious device was found close to the Dunsilly junction at Antrim.

ATO were present and a number of controlled explosions were carried out on the object, which has been taken away for further examination, police say.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "It is believed at this stage that this was a hoax device, however, enquiries remain ongoing, and we are appealing to anyone who might have any information which could assist, to get in touch."
