A 75-year-old man has denied the racially aggravated abuse of an 11-year-old boy at a juvenile football match in Aberdeen.

The incident is alleged to have happened at Spain Park at Banks o’Dee Sports Centre on 26 May this year.

It is alleged Colin Manderson, of Catterline, Aberdeenshire, entered the pitch from the sideline during a game and shouted at the child. It is claimed he acted in a racially aggravated manner which caused or was intended to cause alarm or distress.

The case, under the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021, was continued until later in the year at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.
