A 56-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car in Clydebank.

The pedestrian was struck by a Volkswagen Amarok on the westbound carriageway of Dumbarton Road, between the junctions of Hawick Street and Mill Road, at about 17:40 on Thursday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the blue VW were not injured.

Police are asking witnesses to and are especially keen to speak to the driver of a silver van or minibus which was travelling eastbound before the collision.

Sgt Adnan Alam said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who died. We're offering them support and will continue to do so as our investigations progress.

"Anyone with dashcam footage of Dumbarton Road around the time is asked to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention."
