Drivers have been warned after items including iron gratings and tree branches were thrown from a bridge onto a busy road in west Cumbria.
Youngsters are being blamed for hurling objects onto a stretch of the A5086.
The bridge is located near a blind bend between Egremont and Cleator.
Elaine Woodburn, from Egremont Town Council, said it was just "luck" that nobody has been killed.
"When you drive through the bridge it is on a blind bend," she said.
"You wouldn't see anything until it landed on top of you."
So far, there have been no reports of cars being hit by objects thrown from the bridge.
Ms Woodburn added: "It could be more by good luck more than anything that they haven't killed anybody."
