Highland Council has agreed to freeze the council tax for the coming financial year - in line with Scottish government policy.

Households in an average Band D property will continue to pay £1,427.19 per year.

The financial challenges facing the local authority were described as "unprecedented" and a number of measures will be taken to try to close a estimated £113m budget gap over the next three years.

These include removing the role of principal teacher in local primary schools and extending the repayment period of schools built under PPP contracts.
