One man has died and another is in a critical condition after a crash between a pedestrian and a motorcycle in Oldham.

It happened at about 16:00 BST on Saturday in Ripponden Road.

A man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene, and a man aged in his 20s was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Greater Manchester Police said "significant" road closures were in place, while investigations were carried out.

No other details have been released.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service also attended the scene.

The public has been urged to avoid the area.
