A park described by a council as "in need of refurbishment and enhancement" is set for a makeover worth nearly 拢130,000.

The funds to improve Yelveton Park, Stafford, would come from money received from developers for building homes on the town's former police headquarters, said Stafford Borough Council.

In addition to new play facilities, the park in Baswich will have picnic benches, seating and a new path around its boundary.

The last time the play area off Yelverton Avenue was refurbished was in 1996, the council stated.

Councillor Gillian Pardesi said she was pleased approval had been granted to spend 拢129,095 of developer contributions on the site.

鈥淭his park is very popular with local people, especially the younger members of the community, but it is definitely in need of a refurbishment."

Just over 拢21,000 is also set to be spent on work in the play area at Wildwood Park, including replacing and repairing safety surfaces.
