A man and a 14-year-old-boy have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a girl was seriously assaulted outside a shop.
The 16-year-old girl was attacked with a weapon near Londos shop on Prescot Road, Fairfield, Liverpool, at about 21:00 BST on Sunday, Merseyside Police said.
She was taken to hospital with head injuries and is in a stable condition.
A man, 19, from Old Swan, and a boy from Kensington are being questioned and remain in custody.
Detective Insp Tony Roberts urged any witnesses to come forward and said the force believed the "extremely traumatic" attack was "targeted".
"We understand the shock and worry that such a serious incident of violence will cause to the community, and we'd encourage people to speak to officers in the area if they know anything," he said.
