Man, 80, appears in court charged with murder
An 80-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering his wife.
Alan Sharp, from Tolworth in south-west London, is accused of killing 80-year-old Jenny Sharp at their home.
The Metropolitan Police said it was called to an address in Raeburn Avenue at about 09:30 BST on Friday after Mrs Sharp was found unresponsive, and she was later pronounced dead.
Mr Sharp spoke only to confirm his name, age and address during the hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court.
A post-mortem examination on Saturday found Mrs Sharp's cause of death was "manual compression of the neck", the Met said.
The force said it was not looking for anyone else connection with the incident and the family was being supported by specialist officers.
Mr Sharp will next appear for a bail application hearing on Tuesday at the Old Bailey.
