- Published
A group of politicians in Sark looking at tax reform has come back with suggestions on how more money can be raised.
Suggestions for the reform include a derelict building tax, higher personal taxes, a seasonal worker tax, and document duty.
The potential of a 拢2 per night levy on people staying in hotels, 拢1 for staying in a B&B and 50p for people camping has also been discussed.
The committee stated in its report: 鈥淭his is a tax that is imposed by most governments in Europe and around the world.鈥
Currently, the minimum personal tax people can pay is 拢525 per person.
At the Chief Pleas meeting on 17 January, conseillers will decide whether to have a consultation on the new tax plans to get the views of residents.
