Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a former NHS healthcare centre.

The fire at the derelict Hesketh Centre on the junction of Albert Road and Park Road West in Southport broke out at about 02:40 GMT, Merseyside Fire and Rescue (MFRS) said.

The upper floor and roof of the four-storey building - which sold at auction in July for 拢800,000 - had been "well alight", MFRS added.

Roads in the area were temporarily closed while four crews dampened the flames.
