A woman in her 50s has died in a crash with an HGV.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the collision in Kendal, Cumbria, on Thursday.

Emergency services were called just after 16:00 GMT to Burton Road and the woman was confirmed dead at the scene.

Cumbria Constabulary said it wanted to speak to the driver of a black Mini as a "witness who was directly behind the HGV at the time of the collision".

The road was closed for several hours, from nearby Westmorland General Hospital and the road to Oxenholme, to the roundabout by the town's Asda store.
