Three boys held after weapon report in city centre

Three teenage boys have been arrested after a person was reported to be carrying a weapon in York city centre.

Officers were called to Bootham on Thursday at about 16:00 BST, North Yorkshire Police said, with two knives found nearby.

A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of affray and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.

Another 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, affray and being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug.

All three remain in custody, with officers asking anyone with information to contact police.
