Scooter rider suffers life-threatening injuries

A scooter rider has suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash in Leeds.
The rider, a man in his 50s, is thought to have hit a kerb and metal pole while negotiating a right-hand bend, West Yorkshire Police said.
The incident happened shortly after 14:10 GMT on Wednesday, at the junction between Smeaton Approach and Bower Road in the Cross Gates area.
He suffered serious leg injuries, officers said.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
