A 65-year-old man has died following a fire at a flat in Dingwall.

Emergency services were called to the property in St Andrews Road at about 08:00 on Thursday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said three appliances were sent to the scene and crews extinguished a blaze in the kitchen of the ground-floor flat.

A joint police and SFRS investigation will be held into the cause of the fire.

SFRS area commander Michael Humphreys said: “Sadly, one person passed away at the scene.

"Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this incident at this time."
