A man has died in an early morning house fire.
Fire crews tackled the blaze in a house on Kipling Avenue, Droylsden, Tameside at about 0:00 BST on Wednesday.
Police said a man was pronounced dead at the scene while a woman and child, who were also in the house, did not suffer any injuries.
An investigation has been launched and a cordon remains in place.
The woman and young boy were already out of the house when four fire engines attended the scene, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said.
The incident is being treated as "isolated" and the area will see an increase of police presence in the area over the coming days, police confirmed.
A spokesman for GMFRS said: "The thoughts of everyone at GMFRS are with the family and friends of the man who lost his life."
Detective Chief Inspector Anna Barker, of Greater Manchester Police's Tameside district, said: "This is clearly a devastating and shocking incident in which a man has sadly lost his life and that remains in our thoughts as we start to progress our investigations into the circumstances of the fire."
Police are urging anyone with any questions, concerns or information to contact the force.
