A pedestrian has died after a crash on the M42 southbound on Sunday evening.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called at about 23:30 BST to a serious crash scene between junctions nine and 10 in Curdworth, Warwickshire.

A spokesperson said: "Upon arrival we found a male patient who was a pedestrian.

"Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene. No further patients required treatment.鈥

Warwickshire Police has appealed for witnesses travelling on the M42 between 23:00 BST and 23:40 BST, including those with dashcam footage and people who may have seen a man walking along the side of the motorway at that time.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A man from Leicestershire had reportedly been walking north by the carriageway before being struck by vehicles and sadly dying from his injuries at the scene.

"His family are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers."
