New Aberdeen suburb takes step forward

A major new suburb to the west of Aberdeen has taken a step forward after it was unanimously backed by councillors.
The city council wants to create a new community on a greenfield site at Greenferns, to the west of the Northfield area.
The scheme could eventually comprise almost 1,600 homes.
A meeting of the city's planning committee heard that the first phase of the development would include council housing, while further phases would be marketed to property developers.
