A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his uncle.

Corin Harper-Davis, 36, of Dermody Road, Hither Green, London, is accused of murdering 64-year-old Jonathan Harper in Brampford Speke, near Exeter.

Officers were called to Sandy Lane at about 20:50 BST on Wednesday, said Devon and Cornwall Police.

Mr Harper-Davis is also accused of assaulting a police officer during the same alleged incident. No pleas were entered during the hearing at Exeter Magistrates' Court on Saturday.

The victim was stabbed to death at a property in the village.

Mr Harper-Davis was remanded in custody until Monday when he will appear before a judge at the city's crown court.

Dressed in grey clothes, Mr Harper-Davis spoke to confirm his name and date of birth and nodded his head to say he understood the proceedings.
