A man in his 20s has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run crash in Weymouth.

Police said two pedestrians were struck by a black Volkswagen Golf on Abbotsbury Road on Tuesday shortly before 20:30 BST.

The car was driven away and abandoned further down the road, with two men reported to have fled the scene.

The injured man was flown to hospital by air ambulance. The second man hit by the car was not seriously injured.

Dorset Police has appealed for information about the two men in the black Golf and anyone with dashcams, doorbell cameras or CCTV to check their footage for anything of relevance.

Abbotsbury Road, near to the junction with Cromwell Road, remains closed while investigations continue.
