An articulated truck driver involved in a crash with a tree in Cornwall escaped with minor injuries from the wreckage, firefighters have said.

The twisted remains of the cab showed the effect of the collision with the tree on the A395 near Launceston.

Launceston Community Fire Station, which was called the crash at about 11:30 GMT, said the crash caused "significant damage and extensive debris on the road".

"Luckily the driver walked away with minor injuries," said a spokesperson.

Traffic monitor Inrix said the A395 was closed in both directions from the Egloskerry turn-off to The Wilsey Down.
