Man, 83, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found with serious injuries.

Officers were called to a property in The Ridgeway, Sandown, on the Isle of Wight, at about 09:30 BST on Friday, said Hampshire police.

The woman was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, where she remained on Sunday.

An 83-year-old man was taken to St Mary’s Hospital. He was later discharged and arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was released on conditional bail until 9 November while the force continues its enquiries.
