A Surrey leisure centre is to reopen next month after a £50m revamp.

Eclipse Leisure Centre in Staines-upon-Thames is set to open its doors on October 15.

The updated facility in Knowle Green will include rooftop football pitches, an eight-lane swimming pool, gym and LED-marked sports hall.

Plans to upgrade it were announced in 2018, with detailed proposals approved in June 2021, after multiple rounds of local consultation, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Dan Zubiena, general manager at operators Places Leisure, said it would be a "hub of activity" for the community, offering "something for everybody".

"Our number one priority is to help the Spelthorne community to live active and healthy lives," he added.
