A number of roads have been closed following a "serious incident" in Barnsley.

Emergency services were called to Burton Road in Monk Bretton on Sunday afternoon, according to South Yorkshire Police.

The road, at the junction with Castle Close, has been closed to the junction with Cliffe Lane. Rotherham Road has also been closed at the same junction.

Police said the roads would be closed "for some time" while emergency services were at the scene.

Footpaths around the Iceland store have also been closed, the force added.
