A blaze which broke out in a block of flats in the centre of Guildford was accidental, according to a fire and rescue service.

At its height eight fire engines attended the fire on Onslow Street which broke out at 15:00 GMT on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Surrey Fire & Rescue Service confirmed on Thursday the blaze was now "fully out" and it's cause was "most likely related to cooking".

Surrey Police said on Thursday it was not investigating the incident.

Both the police and ambulance service also attended the scene which was close to Guildford Crown Court.

The fire service had advised people to avoid the area and for those living nearby to keep their windows and doors shut.
