Twenty-four people have been arrested and drugs with an estimated street value of £130,000 have been seized in a police crackdown in Telford.

Action in the area included early-morning raids, a focus on town-centre shoplifting and a joint operation with British Transport Police to tackle knife crime.

Cash worth £5,000 was also seized, West Mercia police said, following Operation Forefront.

Two men aged 55 and 31 have been arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs with intent to supply, after officers raided a house in Cavendish Close, Oakengates.

Cash, drug paraphernalia and weapons were seized from the property.

Police Community Support Officers also carried out patrols on bus routes.

Several community engagement events also took place, including Telford's two Community Safety and Engagement Officers visiting Wellington and Newport with a knife bin to allow people to discard any unwanted bladed items.

Telford is the final local policing area to take part in Operation Forefront, which has been running since December.
