Speakers from across the UK and Channel Islands are to attend Guernsey's first violence against women and girls (VAWG) symposium.

The event on Wednesday has been organised by Guernsey Police and BE LADS campaigner Poppy Murray.

Ms Murray said it would be an opportunity for islanders to hear from people leading the way in tackling VAWG.

She said the event was the "first of its kind" locally and would be a "major stepping stone" in a bid to stamp out male violence.

She added: "I hope this event will allow us to bring thoughts and ideas together and craft the next crucial steps we will take as an island to better protect women and girls."

The event will take place at Les Cotils at St Peter Port from 09:00 BST until 15:00.
