Police officer hurt in crash after 'evasive action'
A police officer suffered serious injuries after taking "evasive" action to avoid crashing into a car during a pursuit, a force has said.
Greater Manchester Police said the officer was chasing a vehicle "on cloned licence plates" on Dukinfield Road in Hyde, Tameside, at about 12:35 BST on Monday.
It said during the pursuit, he had to avoid another vehicle and his quick thinking had ensured its occupants were unharmed.
A representative said the officer remained in hospital for treatment.
They said efforts to track down the car being pursued, which was believed to have been involved in a collision it failed to stop at on Monday, were ongoing.
Anyone with information about that collision has been asked to contact the force.
