Boy, 16, charged over street stabbing

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with wounding with intent over a stabbing in Worcestershire.

It happened on Market Street in Kidderminster at about 17:00 BST on Tuesday, according to West Mercia Police.

The accused, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared at court on Thursday.

He has been remanded into youth detention accommodation until his next court appearance at Worcester Magistrates' Court on 22 May.

He is also charged with possession of a bladed article.

After the stabbing, a 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

Det Insp Warren Matthews said on Tuesday: "Understandably our community will be concerned by this incident but I would like to reassure the public that we believe this to be an isolated incident."
