Market to get events space as part of 拢700k revamp

An indoor market will have space to put on events as part of a 拢700,000 makeover, a council has said.
Bedworth Market is also expected to increase in size from 14 to 20 fixed units as part of plans to develop it using money from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
Bedworth and Nuneaton Borough Council's cabinet approved the scheme following a review of the venue last year.
Council leader Kris Wilson said the project, its biggest government-funded venture, offered "us an opportunity to breathe new life" into the site.
The authority added it would now draw up the priorities for refurbishment and consult with traders on design and build.
Mr Wilson said it was great news the market would get the "tender loving care and attention it has needed for a long time".
鈥淚鈥檓 looking forward to getting the tenders back and seeing just what is possible in the market building," he explained.
鈥淲e have a brilliant opportunity to create a refreshed market that also has space to put on events in the town to draw in residents from Bedworth and beyond.鈥
The cabinet approved the recommended option at a meeting on Wednesday under the Building a Better Borough Strategy.
