Suspected explosive device discovery closes road
The discovery of a suspected explosive has closed a road on Merseyside.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Bootle at 10:15 BST following reports of "a suspected unexploded ordnance" on a construction site on North Atlantic Avenue, Merseyside Police said.
closed the A5036 in both directions between Park Lane, Boundary Road and Netherton Way for several hours.
The bomb was then removed to be detonated "at a safe location" and traffic restrictions were lifted, Merseyside Police said.
