A man has died following a house fire on Friday morning.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said they received reports of a fire at a house on Priory Avenue in Hungerford, Berkshire, at 11:13 BST on Friday.

They found a fire on the first floor of a two storey semi-detached house.

A man was rescued from the building but died from his injuries, the fire service said.

Two crews from Newbury Fire Station attended the scene, along with the Aerial Ladder Platform from Whitley Wood Fire Station and crews from Dorset and Wiltshire and Oxfordshire County Council Fire and Rescue Service.

Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets and one main jet to extinguish the fire, before ventilating the area.
