A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a man who was found fatally injured in an alley.

Sheldon Jameson was discovered between Apley Road and Whitburn Road in Doncaster on Thursday 19 September, police said.

The 42-year-old was taken to hospital but later died. He had suffered stab wounds, the ´óÏó´«Ã½ understands.

Jason Hale, 36, of no fixed abode, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Monday and was remanded into custody before an appearance at the crown court on Tuesday.

Mr Hale, who was flanked by two dock officers during the short hearing, was told the matter could only be dealt with by the higher court.

The case was so serious he could not apply for bail, District Judge Tim Spruce said.
