A man who died after being allegedly attacked in a pub has been named by police.

Carl James, 42, was seriously injured at the Jack and Jill in Crossfell Road, Middlesbrough, on Saturday at about 18:00 BST.

Mr James, from Middlesbrough, was taken to hospital where he later passed away, Cleveland Police said.

A 25-year-old local man who was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm has been remanded in custody.

The force said its thoughts were with Mr James' family and friends.
