A 15-year-old boy who cannot swim has been rescued by firefighters after he was found stranded on a hay bale in the middle of a canal.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to the Grand Union Canal near Wolsey Way, Loughborough, at about 19:40 BST on Tuesday.
Officers found the boy sitting on the hay bale, which had moved into the middle of the canal due to currents caused by passing boats.
Using a reach pole and throw line, they were able to pull him safely to the bank, with no injuries reported.
On social media, the fire service said: "This incident posed a danger not only to the child who could not swim but also to boaters."
