Man in court over 'police officer attempted murder'

A 23-year-old man has appeared at crown court charged with the attempted murder of two police officers.
Declan Diedrick, of Hull Grove in Harlow, Essex, was not asked to enter pleas to the charges of attempted murder and possession of a knife.
He appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court via video link from Chelmsford Prison.
Mr Diedrick was remanded in custody until a plea hearing at the same court on 29 January.
The defendant appeared wearing a grey prison-issue tracksuit, and could be seen resting his arms and head, face down on the desk.
PC Hollie Matthews and acting Sgt Gemma Sandy were injured in the incident in Hull Grove at about 17:45 GMT on Friday.
One officer was admitted to hospital suffering a wound to her head, but has since been discharged.
