Driver in court charged over fatal crash
A man has been charged with causing the death of a "gentle giant" in a car crash.
Nic Alec Biddle, 37, died and four others were injured when the Volkswagen Golf they were travelling in struck a stone wall on Bradford Road in Birstall on 3 February 2023.
Benjamin Carl Gabriel, 26, of Rawfolds Avenue, Birstall, appeared at Kirklees Magistrates' Court charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
Mr Biddle's family said he had a "beautiful soul" and "loved life, loved his kids, his family and his friends".
Mr Gabriel was also charged with causing serious injury to another passenger by dangerous driving at the hearing on 4 July.
Mr Gabriel's case was sent to Leeds Crown Court and he is due to appear on 1 August.
