Quad bike with baby on board seized

A quad bike rider who was carrying a 10-month-old baby on board has had his vehicle seized.
Durham Police stopped and surrounded the 29-year-old rider in Shildon on Saturday.
Neither he nor the baby were wearing any protective clothing or headgear, said the force, adding it might not be such a good idea to carry a 10-month-old on a quad bike.
The rider was reported for a series of suspected offences, including driving without a licence and driving with no insurance.
A quad bike can only carry passengers if it is designed to do so and while passengers and drivers in England, Scotland and Wales do not have to wear crash helmets, .
Durham Police said: "If you ride a quad bike on a public road, you must register it with the DVLA, have insurance and a driving licence, and the bike must be taxed, otherwise it will be seized.
"We鈥檇 also recommend you wear protective clothing and a helmet, and maybe don鈥檛 ride with a baby on the front either."
The man stopped in Shildon will be dealt with by Durham Police's road safety team, officers said.
