A 16-year-old boy has been charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered in relation to a bus fire in the centre of Bradford last year.

A fire broke out on a bus in Broadway on 9 October 2023 and social media footage showed black smoke billowing from the double-decker.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been bailed and will appear at Bradford Magistrates' Court on 18 November.

Following the incident, First Bus said no passengers were on board, while West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said there were no injuries reported.

The bus was a 607 service from Thornton which had reached its last stop before the blaze started on its upper deck, said First Bus.
