A large blaze which broke out in a field in east Kent was attended by dozens of firefighters.

A total of 10 fire engines were sent to the fire in Spitfire Way in Manston at 10:40 BST on Tuesday.

A spokesperson from Kent Fire and Rescue Service said they were "working hard to extinguish the fire".

At 13:00 the service reported that two engines remained at the scene "to damp down hot spots".

Road closures were put in place in the area and motorists were advised to find alternative routes, the spokesperson said.

There were no injuries and the cause of the blaze has not yet been ascertained.
