Two men have been charged with murder after a man died and two other people were found injured in a house in York.

Indrit Mustafaj, 26, from Bradford, died in hospital on 23 November after suffering serious injuries in the Haxby Road area, according to North Yorkshire Police.

Officers said it was believed to have been a "targeted" attack.

A man in his 20s and another man in his 30s, both from York, who were arrested at the weekend, were due to appear at York Magistrates' Court on Thursday, a force spokesperson said.

Both men had also been charged with two counts each of wounding causing grievous bodily harm with intent, they added.

Meanwhile, a man and a woman who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender had been released under investigation while inquiries continued.

A second man who was injured in the incident and taken to hospital remained in a stable condition, police said.

Det Supt Fran Naughton, from North Yorkshire Police, said: "We've spent a lot of time talking to residents as part of our investigation and they are understandably concerned about what’s happened.

"We really appreciate their support and co-operation."

Police remained in the area "to support the community and guard the scene", she said.
