Arson arrest over fire at block of flats

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at a block of flats in Bradford.

Three fire engines were sent after a police officer spotted the blaze on Central Avenue in Shipley at about 15:45 BST on Wednesday.

The fire started in a ground floor flat and spread to the first floor, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

West Yorkshire Police said there was nobody inside the flats at the time, with the man in his 30s held on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
