Guernsey Airport roof repairs move to next phase

Scaffolding is being erected this week along the front of Guernsey Airport's terminal building.

It is part of ongoing work to fix the roof and was likely to be in place for at least a year, said officials.

There have been various problems with the roof, including wind damage and issues with the cladding system.

Guernsey Ports said the latest work should not impact passengers.

The roof of the airport would also be enclosed so a full survey could be carried out, officials said.

Guernsey Ports project manager Joe Armstrong said it would help "establish what options we have to safeguard and extend the life of the cladding system".

The duration of the work would depend on the results of the inspection and the time needed to carry out repairs, he added.
