Plans for 165 more homes in village

Plans for 165 homes on farmland in Staffordshire have been put forward.

Bloor Homes has asked to build them at a site off Stafford Road on the northern edge of Penkridge and the application is one of four due to be considered for the area.

The company said the land had been allocated for housing by South Staffordshire Council.

It said it wanted to create a "vibrant new neighbourhood for Penkridge".

The company has included a proposal for a school as part of its application.

It said the applications it has put forward and those by another company, St Philips, would collectively result in more than 1,000 new homes, with some homes already built or under construction.

There could also be a community centre, shops and a nursery it said.

Bloor Homes said the site was in an "entirely appropriate and sustainable location for growth" which was well-connected with the existing village.
