Thousands of cannabis plants with an estimated street value of £2.4m have been found at a former bed factory.

West Yorkshire Police seized around 4,000 plants and several vehicles, including a Lamborghini car, when officers raided the building in Quarry Road, Gomersal, on Friday.

Nine men were arrested during the operation with eight later charged with production of class B drugs.

Insp Charlotte Nicholls, of the Batley and Spen Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “A significant amount of work has been ongoing with partners at this large scale location to conduct searches and make the area safe."

Police said the men were due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 12 August.

The other man has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
