The medical records of about 160 people were found in the home of a former Manx Care employee.

The data breach concerned the records of people who were treated on the Isle of Man between 2000 and 2014, the health service said.

It came to light in September and it was reported to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

The ICO was said to be satisfied with the handling of the issue, which saw all affected patients notified.

Apologising for the breach, a spokeswoman for Manx Cared said it had 鈥渇urther strengthened the safeguards currently in place to mitigate against such a breach reoccurring".

The ICO had 鈥渁dvised they were content with the manner in which Manx Care reported and responded to the situation鈥, she said.

鈥淎s a result, the ICO closed their investigation in November 2023,鈥 she added.

The investigation was carried out by Manx Care鈥檚 Care Quality and Safety Lead for Community and Primary Care and the Information Governance Team.

The Information Commissioner鈥檚 Office has been contacted for a comment.
